There are several things to be considered when purchasing fencing equipment for the eager new fencer. You should however take some time to do a little research. First off it's important to know what's needed. As there many sources of equipment, there are 2 things to be considered. First is price, our how much can you afford to spend. The second consideration is qualiy. For the most part all of the equipment produced these days provides sufficient protection and the cost is dependant on quality. the rule of thumb, the more it costs, the better it is. (usually)

First you'll need to purchase a practice foil, epee, or saber. Electric weapons can also be purchased when used with scoring machines. There are different types of grips and blades can be had from very flexible to very stiff.
