I mentioned in my last notes that AFC epeeist Mary Tung had crossed
over to foil for the day, but hadn’t realized that ACN’s Valeria Makeeva
returned the favor in reverse, with similar results. ACN’s Giradot siblings
had a better walk on the dark side, upsetting Mary, and earning Bennett
his first epee rating.
ACN’s Narayanan Veliyath’s
win in D & Under foil over NGFC’s Liam Kopel (who had taken me out)
was good for a D rating for himself and an E for Liam. ACN’s Tiffany
Liu also earned her E sharing bronze with ACN’s Deborah Fang.
AFC’s Andrew Quattrochiocchi
showed ACN’s Rocky Rothenberg a lot of respect after he got a few points
up on her in open foil, dragging the third period out to win on time
rather than risk his lead.
The wife called to
remind me that we had a prior engagement, and, when she discovered that
I was hanging around to watch women’s foil, made me come home before
the DEs.
I’ll see you Wild
Turkeys Macon Saturday. Carlos and I are leaving my place at 9 a.m.,
we can take a coupe more if you want to ride with. There are four epee
teams scheduled for the Thermopylae Open in Savannah, and Georgia Southern
as issues a challenge to the rest of you. Have fun.
